The Dhoch3 Program

The Dhoch3 program supports the education of future teachers of German at higher education institutions abroad with online study modules.

Eight modules deal with different topics of the subject area German as a foreign language (GFL) and are available on the online learning platform Moodle free of charge for teachers at higher education institutions abroad. Dhoch3 thus creates an additional range of materials and literature that can be integrated into existing courses and at the same time gives an impulse for the development of new courses.

Content

Each module offers material for the areas of “preparation of teaching”, “teaching and learning in practice” and “scientific specialization”. Within those areas you will find various teaching and learning materials, scientific literature, Moodle tools and tasks for practice as well as a full access to the volumes “Technical Languages” and “German as a Foreign and Second Language” of the “Handbooks of Linguistics and Communication Science” (HSK).
The content does not aim to form a full curriculum, but rather serves as a complement to existing curricula and can be integrated flexibly into already established content. Dhoch3 being a digital project, its materials are ideal for the implementation of online courses or blended learning formats.

The modules are based on current, global trends such as the increasing interest in the German language in job-related contexts and the growing demand for study-integrated German courses. They thus contribute significantly to a demand-oriented education for future school and university teachers of German. At the same time, they present current scientific findings and reflect the state of research in the subject German as a foreign language. Specified for blended learning, they additionally promote the digitalization of higher education in this field.

Target group

Dhoch3 is aimed at university teachers and Master-level students at higher education institutions abroad, focusing mainly on locations where degree programmes for teacher training are currently being established or where there is a significant interest in the fields of methodology and didactics, job-related communication, or study-integrated GFL lessons.

Registration and use

You can register yourself free of charge on the Dhoch3 Moodle platform at moodle.daad.de/dhoch3. You will initially receive a guest account, which will allow you to get an overview of all modules and their content. You can of course use the available materials. If you would like to edit or expand the existing materials to better suit your context, we will be happy to set up a virtual classroom for you within the Dhoch3 Moodle platform. You find the respective online form on the platform at the top of each module.

The modules

The modules were developed at German universities by experts of German as a foreign language. Currently, ten teams are each working on one module. More information on the teams and the content of the modules can be found in the following overview.
